4.3 - Installation
Read all instructions found in the packaging available with the new part.
Remember to observe the position of the strainer filter as mentioned in the removal section on page 4.2 Removal.
Install all necessary parts supplied with the new pump.
Install a new strainer where applicable.
Pump Installation
Install the new pump in the fuel tank.
Insulate to Eliminate Noise
Strap the fuel tank back on and ensure that all rubber insulators are in place to prevent noise.
Reconnecting Filler Neck
Reconnect filler neck, fuel/vapour hoses and electrical connectors without forgeting grounds (verify the condition of seals and hose clamps)
Installing New Filter
Install new fuel filter, and add new or filtered clean fuel back in the fuel tank (never dry run a fuel pump).
Reconnect the battery or related fuses.
Cycle Key
Cycle the key ON several times without starting the engine with intervals of 10 sec. between cycles.
This will pre-charge the fuel system and prevent new pump failure.
Start the engine. Check and correct any fuel delivery system leaks.
Reconnect fuel pressure gauge and verify with manufacturer's specifications.
Road test the vehicle.
