Cooling System Maintenance

The cooling system must be checked during every maintenance intervals. This includes cooling liquid density, discoloration and pressure testing of the radiator cap.

  1. Make sure the engine is cold enough to remove the radiator cap.
  2. Inspect coolant level and color in the overflow reservoir and radiator.
  3. Pressure test the radiator cap and verify with manufacturer's specifications.
  4. Perform a cooling system pressure test, do not exceed pressure specifications.
  5. Verify the system for leaks, including the heater core.
  6. Inspect hoses and clamps for deterioration.
  7. Inspect all belts.
  8. Run the engine long enough for the electric cooling fans to turn on.
  9. Actuate all knobs on the temperature control panel for proper operation.
